Gideon Kamya Ebenezer Lukoda
Capped 12 times for the national team-Gideon Kamya relocated to the UK in 2005 to pursue his master's degree where he featured for the Newcastle Upon Tyne University rugby team,North 1 division side Kersal RFC before settling at Bracknell RFC were he currently plies his trade under head coach ex-England No.8 Chris Sheasby.Prior to relocating to the UK he featured for HIMA Impis RFC at club level for 4 years before having a short stint with MTN Heathens RFC;whilst on a short sabbatical last season we were witness to his newly acquired skills when in a cracking encounter between the Kobs and Heathens he scored a candidate for try of the season(the winning try for MTN Hetheans) by peeling off a maul and in an impressive display of power and technique he broke 4 Kobs tackles and crashed for the winner.
Gideon often known by his pseudo name 'Gidie' is a qualified (Civil)highway engineer but still finds time to excell for his club in the UK South West divsion one.He is a tried and tested front row player with amazing speed and mobilty for his size,he would be an invaluable recall to the national team front row especially with the troubling grapevine that one or two of the current crop are pondering retirement from international rugby.CAR championship beckons and we are hosting a two time world cup qualifier Namibia who have many Currie cup players in their ranks,is it too much for Uganda to make use of their few overseas players?Again we the fans implore(although not usurping the URU job scope) the URU technical committee to give such a proven warrior another chance to fight for his country. Our neighbours Kenya do it with their foreign based players,so can we..do I hear a lack of funds excuse??Oh no you did not!
