Rhinos RFC who lost their sponsorship from Centenary Bank cut their 2009 season short after the 2009 Uganda Cup to start serious pre-season training and also embarked on rebuilding their squad with young recruits.Rhinos opponents UTL Kobs who were also coming off a bad season also gave many youngsters game time.Kobs scored four tries with former international Roger Rukundo putting up a man of the match performance and crossing the try line twice.Rhinos though feisty eventually succumbed to the former champions who shook off there early season rust to secure a bonus point victory.

Last year's league runners up G4S Pirates picked up an expected win over last season's whipping boys Nile winning 34-10.Utility back Anthony Kinene scored one of their 4 tries while Nile managed 2 tries.G4S Pirates are now coached by South African Andre Barnard who was hired from Super 14 champions Blue Bulls coaching team.

Defending champions MTN Heathen leaped to the top of the table standing with a solid 54-09 win over Buffaloes in the Kyadondo derby.Perhaps the scoreline was abit flattering considering half an hour into the game Buffaloes were neck an neck with Heathens 7-6 after Buffaloes fly half Bascut scored a spectacular 40 meter drop kick. After the half Heathens shifted gears while Buffaloes faded badly.USPA MVP Scott Oluoch, former MVP Robert Seguya,Bishop Onen,Raymond Sejjemba and Jude Kerrmundu crossed the try line as Heathens went on rampage.

Super 8 league action returns next week end when Heathens host Jinja based Nile RFC,Rhinos travel to House of pain Entebbe SS grounds to face Mongers and G4S Pirates host the Toyota Buffaloes at Kampala RUFC grounds.
