Kyadondo Rugby Club hold AGM

Kyadondo Rugby Club held its 2011 AGM on Thursday 31st March at the member’s area upstairs.The meeting was well attended with over 200 members present, as the Honorary club secretary David ‘Bankens’ Bukenya went through the agenda. The Honorary Treasurer Peter Magona presented the certified balance sheet for the last 2 years showing a steady increase in club’s income over the last two years. This despite the unfortunate terrorist attacks in July last year. The Chairman Andrew Owor in his speech congratulated all teams for a successful season especially Heathens 2009 grand slam and 2010 league title. Stallions where also congratulated for a 2010 unbeaten reserve league season and the Uganda Cup title in the Shield category. The status of the Kyadondo land lease remains a dicey issue with no solution in sight though talks with the Ministry of Education and Sports, NCS and the city council continue. The chairman emphasized the need for members to be vigilant with security and urged members to look after club property well. The chairman also announced all proceeds from the sale of the new club jerseys and T-shirts will be channelled towards the education of the disadvantaged players. There are two versions ‘MTN Heathens’ and ‘Kyadondo Rugby Club’ which can be purchased while stocks last, from the club manager at only Ushs 60,000.Please buy a jersey and put a child in school. It was also announced that 16 year old Stallions player Kevin Kerrmundu, who earlier won Kyadondo RFC MVP at the annual Kyadondo dinner was the next recipient of the sports scholarship grant from Hana Mixed High School. Kyadondo has partnered with Hana Mixed School, an international school and a growing rugby powerhouse, to educate promising young rugby players. The Headmaster of Hana Mixed School also pledged an additional scholarship this year if Hana won their first schools fifteens title (Editor: Hana did win the schools title 3 days later). The chairman also thanked all sponsors who have supported the club through the years. MTN, Salabed Cargo International, Toyota, Strategic Logistics, Engsol, Nile Breweries among others. It was also announced that reserve league side Buffaloes II will now compete under the new name Engsol Tigers and their new sponsors are Engineering Solutions (Engsol). They will be coached by the indefatigable Robert ‘Soggy’ Seguya. Below is the list of the newly elected Kyadondo RFC executive committee members. Most incumbents returned unopposed.
