Youngster Kevin receives 2010 Kyadondo MVP award from club chairman Andrew Owor

Kevin Kerimundu a former tag rugby graduate-and younger brother to Ugandan international winger Jude Kerimundu- playing for Buffaloes ll was crowned the 2010 Kyadondo Most valuable player having dominated the season with wonderful play. He was instrumental in his teams promotion to the Reserve League ranks last season as well as winning the fans hearts for the Most valuable player award in the second leg of the Hima National 7′s circuit at Makerere University. Kevin beat off competition from 2010 USPA MVP Benon Kizza of Heathens, Stallions speed merchant Phillip and under 19 international Philip Pariyo , and Thunderbirds Christine Kizito to be crowned the overall club MVP and his team’s most valuable player.

At the awards dinner the club also crowned the best back, forward, upcoming and most valuable player of each of the club teams and individual recognition of officials in their exceptional effort in managing the club and teams. Jude Okello,Peter Magona,Brian Tabaruka ,Roger Sebina were recognized for Heathens management as they won the 2010 League title while Doctors Edgar Niyibiza,Ezra Mugisha,Apollo Kivumbi and Eric Katagira were recognized for heading the Kyadondo club medical team. For other team’s management Robert Seguya, Otte Omunyidde, Julian Nkurayije, Andrew Owor, Christine Kizito, Stella Kyalikunda, Pamela Abeja and Hadija Namuyanja were also recognized.

Uganda Rugby union chairman William Blick thanked Kyadondo Rugby club for exceptional management and lifting game standards.”Kyadondo is the first Rugby club to introduce semi professionalism (semi pro) alongside a sustainable feeder system of groomed players through totos programs like Tag Rugby reason to why we are working hand in hand with the Tag Rugby Trust in the area of sponsorship to enable steady development of skills in kids before they join the senior rugby system. The union is working with the Government through the sports Ministry to enter a memorandum of understanding to identify 10 schools for a high performance program in which rugby has four slots “he explained. The USPA chairman Mark Namanya, Uganda Rugby Referees chairman Denis Oola, union officials, Kyadondo sponsors and stakeholders graced the event.
